LATIN AMERICAN HOUSING COMPANY LTD
Latin American Housing Company Ltd is a nonprofit organization based in Brisbane Australia. The purposes for which the Company is established are
* To provide housing primarily for the relief of unemployed and other low income Spanish speaking people.
* To provide for members decent, secure and affordable co-operative housing as an alternative tenure to home ownership and private/public rental housing.
* To provide for members a form of housing which allows for full participation in management and control.
* To promote in any way possible the ideal that housing should be provided for need not profit.
* To build a supportive community based on the principles of friendship, self-help and skill sharing.
* To encourage the widespread practice of the principles and techniques of co-operation in all facets of life.
* To co-operate with and assist other collectives, co-operatives and bodies with similar goals to those of the co-operative.
* To promote the interaction of other persons in the local areas and to initiate assist and operate local community development schemes and employment projects.
* To contribute to the elimination of poverty and the promotion of well being of disadvantaged individuals and groups, for example, Latin American migrants having English as a second language.
* To provide a place where the integration of Latin American migrants will be encouraged.
* To promote and adhere to the seven (7) International Principles of Co-operation.
LATIN AMERICAN HOUSING COMPANY LTD is duly registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, as a public company limited by guarantee since April 18, 1991; and is endorsed as an Income Tax Exempt Charity (ITEC)by the Australian Taxation Office.
